Inmate charged without terroristic threats after attempted escape from van |

PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- An inmate has been charged with making terroristic threats after an attempted escape from a prison transport van. According to officials, deputies from the Preston County Sheriff’s Office responded south of Newburg, to assist Tygart Valley Regional Jail correctional officers. The officers were transporting four inmates to court hearings when one of the inmates, Scott Allen Shahan, made threats toward the officers. Shahan kicked out a side window of the transport van and climbed out the window attempting to escape. Officers were able to subdue Shahan. No injuries to any involved parties were sustained.
