WILLIAMSON - Officials are investigating after an inmate suffered a "medical episode" at Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden on Monday. A male inmate suffered a "medical episode," and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, said Lawrence Messina, director of communications for the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, which oversees the State Regional Jail Authority, in an email.
He has since recovered and was returned to the jail by Wednesday, Messina said. Privacy concerns prevent Messina from elaborating about the medical emergency. However, Messina said jail staff provided medical attention immediately.
