UPDATE: CDCR names inmate killed at Salinas Valley prison |

An inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison was killed Sunday, according to the state's Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Just after 10 a.m. Sunday, inmate Michael Ellison, 35, attacked fellow inmate Jason Lewis, 42, with an inmate-made weapon, according to a press release from CDCR. Corrections officers quickly intervened and used chemical agents to quell the attack, officials said. Lewis died from his injuries. Read More. |
