SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) - A spokesperson for the South Carolina Department of Corrections confirmed Monday that Upstate serial killer Todd Kohlhepp is no longer in protective custody inside the SCDC.

Out of concern for his safety, Kohlhepp was removed from the inmate listing on the SCDC website and placed in protective custody earlier this year.

In April, his inmate report was once again listed online.

According to the document, Kohlhepp was transferred from Kirkland Correctional to Broad River Correctional in August 2017. Broad River is a high-security men's prison located in Columbia.

In March and April this year, he is listed as working as a "wardkeeper assistant" inside the prison. The SCDC said the duties of a wardkeeper assistant include assisting in the day-to-day operation of the housing unit.
