ROME — A Jamestown woman has been charged with drug possession and promoting contraband following an incident Sunday at the Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome.

According to police, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision requested assistance at the facility for a possible Hazmat incident. Investigators from the Office of Special Investigations arrested a female visitor, Christine M. Robinson, age 47, from Jamestown, for bringing contraband into the facility for an inmate. While processing the contraband, which consisted of a gray powdery substance, an investigator began to feel lightheaded. He was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and was later released.
