Fish raised by prison inmates make way to Akron

The program is the only one of its kind in Ohio

Park staff transferring channel catfish into a pond at Goodyear Heights Metro Park on a recent afternoon caught the attention of several kids.

A young girl who was fishing ventured over to the Summit Metro Parks truck for a closer look.

“Have you guys caught any today?” Jeromy Applegate of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service asked.

“I only caught one fish,” the girl answered, sounding disappointed. “And no catfish.”
