Two inmates at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights have been charged with fourth-degree assault of a correctional employee, probation officer, prosecutor or judge after an incident last February in which they are accused of attacking correctional officials as inmates were returning to a housing unit at the prison.

Court records show 30-year-old Justin James Hanks and 30-year-old Joshua Anthony Jones are charged in Washington County.

According to the criminal complaint, Jones began to assault one of the employees by throwing punches, then Hanks attacked a correctional officer who attempted to come to the other employee's aid. Hanks reportedly hit that correctional officer, causing him to fall to his knees. Then Hanks allegedly continued striking the officer in the head and put him in a choke hold.
