Inmate falls through ceiling trying to escape Jackson County Jail

BROWNSTOWN, Ind. (WTHR) - A bad day got worse for a southern Indiana inmate when he fell through the jail ceiling while trying to escape.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said officers were taking 28-year-old Blaze Ayers to his holding cell from a recreation area Monday night when he ran into a medical room and locked the door behind him. Officers went through an adjacent room, but by the time they got into the medical room, Ayers had climbed into the ceiling.

Refusing to comply to officers commands, Ayers caused damage to the ceiling as he crawled around trying to escape. Eventually, the ceiling gave way and Ayers fell to the floor of the booking area.
