Inmate charged with GBH after cutting prison officer’s throat with razor

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after he cut a prison officer’s throat with a razor.

Michael McKenna, 25, is accused of attacking the member of staff, aged 23, at HMP Nottingham, where he is incarcerated, at 10am on April 14.

The officer, who was new to the job and still in his probationary period, needed 17 stitches after the attack. File photo dated 01/03/12 of HM Prison Nottingham, where a prison officer had to be taken to hospital after having his throat cut by an inmate.
