DTE Energy, Michigan Department of Corrections partner for prisoner job training program

JACKSON, Mich., -- DTE Energy has partnered with the Michigan Department of Corrections to help prisoners get job training.

More specifically, prisoners will receive training on how to trim trees.

According to a news release, one prisoners are released on parole, prisoners who have completed the training program will be eligible to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 17 Union and fill an open role with a local tree trim supplier.

The companies that DTE uses to trim trees around energy infrastructure have been unable to find trained people.
