An inmate at the Livingston County Jail is facing new charges after allegedly swallowing contraband in an attempt to hide it from deputies.

On Sept. 3, jail deputies investigated a suspicion that an inmate was in possession of contraband while in the housing unit at the Livingston County Jail. During the investigation, the inmate removed the contraband that was concealed on his person and swallowed it, according to the Sheriff’s Office. After further searches, more contraband was located and later identified as tobacco.

The inmate, 42-year-old Domenic Lonardo from Rochester, is being held on federal charges for the U.S. Marshals Service.

Corporal Josh Daly arrested Lonardo on charges of tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, and promoting prison contraband in the second degree, an A misdemeanor.
