NORTH CAROLINA - TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) – A construction worker in Columbus County made an interesting discovery near a prison recently, when he came across a trash bag with 20 bags of marijuana in it along with four cell phones and two phone charges. Investigators say the construction worker was working on the new addition to the Tabor Correctional Institution when he spotted the bag in a hole. Police believe someone placed the bag in the location with the intention of trying to sneak it into the prison as part of a drug deal. According to investigators, the phones have a lot of evidence to support their theory, including texts and names. Authorities say the marijuana has a street value of hundreds of dollars, but inside the prison, it could have gone for thousands. Read More. |
