Legislators host 'real talk' on prison reform |

State representatives Stephen Kinsey (D-Pa.) and Rosita Youngblood (D-Pa.) hosted a “Real Talk Prison Forum: A Conversation with the Secretary” this month at the First Presbyterian Church of Germantown. State Secretary of Corrections John Wetzel and several other panelists, including Probation and Parole Board member Michael Green and prison reform and re-entry program specialists — Anita Williams, operations manager, Sisters Returning Home; Ann Schwartzman, executive director, Pennsylvania Prison Society; Letitia Mack, executive director, Project4Everstriving; and founder/CEO of U-Belong Kenneth Pratt spoke at the forum. “The purpose for the ‘Real Talk Prison Forum’ was to educate constituents with regards to the system and systematic changes occurring in the prison system,” Kinsey said. “We brought this diverse panel together to try to address incidents not only as they occur in the prison system but also when individuals return — what type of support systems are out here to help them.” Read More. |
