Description: | This position will serve as regional safety officer for our prisons in the Eastern Wyoming region. It will provide primary safety support for WMCI, WWC, WHCC and Central Office. This position plans, schedules, executes, manages and administers the industrial hygiene and bio-environmental engineering function for these institutions, including but not limited to occupational health/industrial hygiene, radiation safety and environmental monitoring to maintain and promote the health, safety and well-being of incarcerated felons and staff. During construction, this position will be located at the Wyoming Womens Center in Lusk. Additionally, the incumbent will attend five (5) weeks of training conducted in Guernsey, Wyoming. This position conducts critical evaluations of the WMCI, WWC, WHCC and Central Office through monthly physical inspections to evaluate compliance with the following standards: National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards; Wyoming Occupational Health and Safety Commission Rules and Regulations; adopted Building Codes in coordination with the State Fire Marshal, and all applicable statutes. prepares monthly compliance reports; provides technical assistance; develops, schedules and conducts training, drills and exercises; monitors all documentation activities associated with compliance standards and assists respective work sections with standardized formats used throughout the department; monitors all waste disposal streams, chemical management and assists respective work sections with program development. |
Special Instructions: | Requires any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, physical or earth sciences, mathematics or closely related field, PLUS four years of professional work experience as a safety manager, officer, technician or safety training officer, INCLUDING three years at the level of an OSHA Specialist 2, OR eight years of professional work experience directly related to industrial safety in any industry except for airlines, mining, railroad or trucking. Candidates will be subject to background and reference investigation and shall be required to submit to urinalysis testing to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
