Description: | Dallas County is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director Juvenile Services. The successful incumbent will plan, organize and supervise managerial staff in the areas of probation, institutional, psychological and contracts services to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures and established program guidelines. Assumes the duties of the Director of Juvenile Services in his or her absence. Oversees delegated personnel functions associated with hiring, training, evaluating, delegating work, reviewing progress and results, establishing priorities and disciplinary actions, when necessary. Interacts with District Judges, department heads, elected officials, other County staff and the general public to resolve problems, provide information and communicate ideas involving areas of responsibility. Oversees the placement budgets and programs for non-residential and residential facilities, evaluating and approving equipment, space and other building needs. Oversees the development, implementation and monitoring of volunteer programs. Analyzes, plans and directs the implementation of new and existing policies, procedures and establishes goals and objectives. Performs other duties as assigned. *******Requirements include a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral Science, Business Management, Education or in a job related field of study. Seven (7) years of professional work related experience, to include five (5) years of management/ supervisory experience. Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess excellent management and supervisory skills, counseling skills, probation officer certification within six months of employment, knowledge of Texas Family Code and Texas Penal Code. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment. |
