Description: Community Resources for Justice (CRJ) is a nonprofit organization with origins that date back to the late 1800s. Currently we have a staff of about 550 employees throughout Massachusetts and surrounding states who are dedicated to supporting our population’s most challenged citizens. With a capacity of 120 beds, Coolidge House serves as a Residential Reentry Center for male and female offenders under contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Residents are referred from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Probation and Federal District Courts. Most residents are in the program for an average of 3 months, during which time they receive case management services that emphasize successful reentry. Coolidge House works with a diverse population with regard to age, type of Federal offense, and length of incarceration. Accredited by the American Correctional Association, Coolidge House represents CRJ’s largest program, and one of its longest running contracts. To learn more visit: www.crjustice.org We are seeking a Program Director who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a 120-bed Federal Bureau of Prisons residential program with responsibility for supervising an annual budget. Plans, directs, monitors and evaluates all program components. Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Ensures contract compliance with regard to safety, security, accountability procedures, and all other areas as determined by contracting agencies. 2. Supervises administrative systems, including information tracking resources (database), contract compliance, reporting, and other data collection plus ensures compliance with all standards, laws, and ordinances. 3. Develops and maintains community, governmental, and other public and private resources and relationships, including attendance at relevant meetings and conferences. 4. Monitors and evaluates personnel training needs and develops, implements in-service training as needed, plus works in cooperation with outside agencies regarding specialized training requirements. 5. Recruits, assigns, and supervises program staff and develops volunteer resources. 6. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and termination of staff. 7. Handles budget preparation, monitoring and any changes that need to be, and ensures any client fees are collected and processed. 8. Conducts resident disciplinary hearings and makes decisions regarding the possibility of terminations from the program or other decisions regarding individuals in program. 9. Facilitates staff meetings and case conferences on a regular and consistent basis. 10. Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that are required. Secondary Responsibilities: 1. Attends necessary training both within CRJ and outside, and acts as liaison with outside agencies for the program. 2. Develops and maintains community, governmental, public and private resources and relationships, and actively participates in professional committees and organizations. 3. Performs other job related projects and activities as requested or directed. Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in Criminal Justice/Human Services, graduate degree preferred. Minimum four years of experience in a related field to substitute for education. Minimum of two years relevant experience, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity, is also required. In lieu of a BA/BS degree, a minimum of six years of relevant experience is required, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Special Work Conditions: Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required: Knowledge of First Aid/CPR, local, state, federal requirements for ADA, EEOC and other laws and regulations applicable to the program. Sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to set limits with clear boundaries. Ability to work as a team player as well as independently are both important and necessary parts of the position.
