| Description: | Garland County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Detention Deputy. Garland County is located in Central Arkansas approximately one hour from Little Rock. The County has a population of nearly 100,000 and is an economic hub in the region. The County is rich in recreational and cultural resources. In 2011, Garland County passed a $42 million dollar referendum for the construction of a new jail facility and two separate sales tax initiatives: one for capital and the second for on-going operations. Construction of the 500 bed direct supervision facility is underway with completion scheduled in August 2014. Current staff at the facility has been involved in design and transition efforts. A staff of 100 is anticipated at occupancy with additional contract staff for health and food services Garland County believes that the new facility creates an opportunity to enhance its operations to reflect direct supervision and inmate management philosophy. To support this effort, the County is seeking qualified correctional managers with expertise in managing employees in a direct supervision environment; developing an effective organization culture; working collaboratively with criminal justice, county and community members; and mentoring employees to advance within the organization. |
