Salary Information: (2012 Wages) Base salary range from $3,974 per month (entry) to $4,967 per month after 5 years. Education incentive and longevity pay available. Benefit Information: 100% Medical, Dental, Vision benefits. Paid Sick Leave (8 hours per month) and paid Vacation leave (12 days per year with longevity increases). Eleven Holidays per year. Contact Information: Anna Thompson Oak Harbor Civil Services Commission Secretary Department Information: The Department is divided into two divisions: Special Operations and Administration. The Jail falls under the Special Operations Division, and employs one Jail Sergeant and 6 Corrections Officers. All police department ranks of Sergeant and below are represented by the Oak Harbor Police Association. The City enjoys the advantage of operating its own 72-hour detention facility. We have achieved a high level of automation in recent years, and continue to seek modern and innovative service enhancements. The Department is committed to training, and takes full advantage of courses and certifications offered by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, and other recognized learning institutions. Oak Harbor is located on the northern end of Whidbey Island, with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island as a neighbor. City Information: The Department employs 26 commissioned and 12 non-commissioned staff. Our mission statement is “Dedicated to Community Safety & Service”. The City of Oak Harbor is located in the northern portion of Whidbey Island, in Island County, Washington. During the past 35 years, Oak Harbor has changed dramatically visually, economically, socially and spatially. Present City limits incorporate¬ 9.714 square miles, with 68.74 miles of streets. Incorporated in 1915, the City has grown steadily since. The population in 1987 was 14,790 and the 2012 count was estimated at 22,000. The future in Oak Harbor stretches forward with much promise for continued growth, good planning and government, in the unique environment of an Island in Puget Sound, set among vistas of snow-covered mountains, fir trees, and sparkling waters, in peaceful co-existence with the jets from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Conditional employment offer will include credit check, medical exam with drug screen, and psychological evaluation for aptitude to work in law enforcement. |
