| AL Executes 1992 Murderer |

Michael Jeffrey Land was executed earlier today for the 1992 kidnap and murder of a 30-year-old woman, prison officials said. The execution "began as scheduled at 6:00pm. Time of death was 6:23pm," said Brian Corbett, a spokesman for the Alabama Department of Corrections. Land, who was executed by lethal injection, was sentenced to die for the murder of Candace Brown, whose body was found with a gunshot wound to the head several days after she first disappeared in the woods near her home.
