| Father To Be Sentenced In Daughter's Death |

PINEVILLE, Mo. — A Southwest City man entered a plea agreement Wednesday to charges in connection with the death of his 3-year-old daughter. Steven E. Scott, 28, wiped tears from his eyes as he stood before McDonald County Associate Circuit Judge John LePage and answered questions about the plea agreement. He appeared with his attorney, public defender Charles Oppelt. Scott entered an Alford plea on a charge of voluntary manslaughter and pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in exchange for a sentence of 10 years on the manslaughter charge and seven years on the endangerment charge. The sentences likely would run concurrently. An Alford plea admits no guilt but acknowledges the likelihood of conviction if the case were to proceed to trial. Read More. |
