Shooting of CO appears accidental |

A Bradford County correctional officer has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into what officials say appears to be the accidental shooting of a female correctional officer he had been dating. The woman was seriously injured by a shot to the face but is expected to survive. Officials said the shooting apparently happened while the male officer was cleaning his gun. The incident happened at a home in Palatka around 7:30 p.m. and involved two Bradford County Sheriff's Office correctional officers, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Putnam County investigators said Sgt. Charles Greg Hendrix, 50, was cleaning his Glock .40-caliber handgun when the gun accidentally discharged and Cpl. Lori Anne Jestes, 41, was shot in the face.
