Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution Announces Employees of the First Quarter for 2015-16

Torrington – The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) is pleased to announce Officer Jennifer Emigh and Building & Grounds Specialist Casey Babbitt as Employees of the First Quarter.

Officer Emigh consistently displays leadership qualities whether she is posted as the Facility Entrance Officer or Central Control Officer. She demonstrates a kind yet matter-of-fact manner as she holds staff accountable to following facility access policy and procedures while being mindful of contraband on a daily basis. Emigh cares deeply about the safety and security of staff at WMCI. She is always professional in her appearance and demeanor.

Emigh is a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Emigh played an active role with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) audit. She co-facilitated as an instructor during the annual in-service PREA training. She has completed investigations training and has recently begun assisting WMCI with investigations.

Emigh is responsible for a number of duties at WMCI. She is in charge of monitoring inmate urinalysis testing and responsible for assuring conduct violations are written according to policy. She monitors monthly cell searches to assure the quota is met each month as per policy. She completes background clearances for visitors and contractors, diligently addresses phone issues for inmates in a timely manner and assists staff with their locker assignments in the facility locker room. She is able to run a control center with efficiency and accuracy.

Emigh is a pleasant and caring person to work with and she is always willing to lend a helping hand to all staff needing assistance. She sets an outstanding example for new officers to follow.

Grounds Specialist Casey Babbitt possesses leadership qualities and the professional technical expertise which make him a top notch member of the Maintenance Department at WMCI. Babbitt is one of the facility’s most dependable, loyal, and conscientious staff members. He is always willing to assist others in their efforts to accomplish their assigned tasks and he can be found working alongside all trades.

Babbitt displays a high degree of honesty and integrity when dealing with others. Babbitt’s leadership and performance are nothing short of admirable. He displays a strong personal commitment to the facility.

Babbitt is proficient at anticipating technical problems and is able to head them off before they become accute and damaging to equipment or the facility. He assists with loading and unloading of the recycling trailer, refueling of the industries welders, design and construction of the recreation yard officer station, fluffing of the faclity landscaping rock, and finishing carpentery work. Babbitt also assists with the cutting and spitting of wood for inmate religious ceremonies and has helped with snow removal on many occasions. Babbitt was instrumental in design and construction of the retaining wall surrounding the facility entrance at WMCI.

Babbitt continues to set his goals high and pursues continueing education and development opportunities. Babbitt is involved in the community through Rooster Boosters which provides college scholarships, maintains yearly tree planting, and is instrumental in releasing pheasants into the wild. Babbitt is a respected employee and community member who puts others before self. Babbitt displays a pleasant and cheerful disposition and is committed to quality assurance in all his work.

WMCI and the Wyoming Department of Corrections congratulate both employees, and extend best wishes to them for their continued success.
