| Maury corrections officer injured after being assaulted by inmate |

MAURY, NC (WITN) - A corrections officer at an Eastern Carolina state prison is being treated this morning after being assaulted by an inmate. The Department of Public Safety says it happened at Maury Correctional Institution in Greene County around 8:30 a.m. Spokeswoman Sonya Bennett-Bellamy says the officer received a non-life threatening injury and was taken to a local urgent care facility. She said the officer is expected to soon return to work. Read More. |
