|Department of Corrections: Electronic monitoring to save prison money|
|By guampdn.com- Jasmine Stole Weiss|
Starting Aug. 1, the Judiciary of Guam will roll out an electronic monitoring program for eligible defendants.
The Department of Corrections anticipates the program will save the prison money because it won't be housing detainees who can't post bail or who otherwise can't meet conditions to be released until trial.
The Judiciary recently awarded the electronic monitoring contract to Buddi US LLC. Judiciary officials have said they have enough funding for up to 150 defendants to be released on electronic monitoring.
