Article: West Des Moines, September 26, 2006: The Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) has licensed ATG's Electronic Medical Records for deployment to all 113 institutions owned, managed and operated by the Bureau. The system is currently being used by 10 Bureau institutions and is very well received by medical staff. Mr. Tom Clark, Chief Systems Development Branch of the Bureau says “It is proving to be an indispensable tool to help manage our ever growing patient load. ATG delivered the solution on time and within budget and successfully implemented it in our facilities. ” Typical health records software is designed to serve public hospitals and private medical clinics; it does not adapt well to serve needs of correctional institutions. ATG's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Pharmacy Administration solution have been very successful in correctional environments because they were a product of collaborative effort with correctional nurses, doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, dentists and pharmacists. ATG Electronic Medical Records is a part of Offender Management Suite, an integrated set of applications that helps correctional agencies manage various aspects of an inmate's incarceration. The suite includes Inmate Trust Fund Accounting, Commissary Operations, Inmate Telephone System, Case Management, Electronic Medical Records, Pharmacy Administration, Inmate Email, Digital Phone Recorder, Food Service Administration, Intelligence System and Performance Based Measures System. About the Bureau The Bureau is responsible for the custody and care of over 185,000 Federal offenders. Approximately 85 percent of these inmates are confined in Bureau-operated correctional facilities or detention centers. The rest are confined through agreements with state and local governments or through contracts with privately-operated community corrections centers, detention centers, prisons, and juvenile facilities.
