Article: West Des Moines, November 20, 2008: The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has successfully deployed Trust Fund Administration and Commissary Operations applications to all thirty three prisons which house more than 170,000 inmates. ATG customized the systems to CDCR’s specific workflow requirements, interfaced them to CDCR’s legacy systems and leveraged CDCR’s existing network infrastructure. The integrated solution called Trust, Restitution, Accounting and Canteen System (TRACS) was successfully completed on time and under budget. TRACS manages inmate accounts, restitution collection, and canteen operations at all CDCR prisons and camps. The system provides inmates timely and more accurate information about their account, while increasing the collection of court-ordered obligations, such as restitution fines and direct orders, through automation. It incorporates several heuristically driven processes to reduce personnel time needed to transact and audit trust accounting functions, and manage canteen operations. About CDCR The CDCR operates and manages California’s thirty-three prisons, oversees a variety of community correctional facilities, manages thirty-seven camps (minimum custody facilities located in wilderness areas), and supervises parolees during their re-entry into society. As part of its responsibilities, CDCR provides for more than 170,000 inmates basic needs, including food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare. Each institution operates independently and provides these services on a local basis.
